The 2011 Manchester Literature Festival starts today, offering a varied and engaging two week programme of talks, readings and performances.

Now in its sixth year, the Festival features a number of high profile events with writers including Michael Frayn, Claire Tomalin, Anthony Horowitz and Jeffrey Eugenides speaking in some of the city's most stunning buildings.

This year has also seen HSBC Premier come on board as the Festival's first ever Principal Sponsor.

Our support of literature across the UK, which includes sponsorship of the Oxford Literary Festival and Cheltenham Literature Festival, provides the business with a platform for opening up opportunities, making connections and stimulating debate.

Manchester Literature Festival also presents an exciting prospect as the business develops in the north of England, offering exclusive access to tickets, speakers and VIP events for clients and prospective clients.

Of particular interest to HSBC is a series of events focusing on writers from emerging markets - including an event with India's Ambassador to Israel Navtej Sarna and critically acclaimed author and journalist Shrabani Basu, and the International Prize for Arabic Fiction discussion - which reflects our wider international focus.

To celebrate the partnership, HSBC Premier has commissioned a series of literary tours. On various dates throughout the Festival, visitors can join Blue Badge Guide and Manchester Confidential Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Schofield to uncover the fascinating literary history of the city and to find out more about the writers who have lived, worked and travelled there.

Tours depart from HSBC St Ann's Square and places are free but limited - visit Jonathan's website to find out more and to book.

HSBC Premier customers should enquire in branch at St Ann's Square or via their Relationship Manager.
