Offscreen expedition begins
The Arabia: Offscreen expedition, supported by HSBC, begins today with the ten international competition winners arriving in Saudi Arabia.
The competition was launched in August as part of Arabian Journeys, a focus of our Cultural Exchange programme in 2011 and 2012 that explores the contemporary cultures of the Middle East.
It attracted more than 500 entries from talented young artists, film-makers, photographers and musicians aged 18-25 in the UK, Egypt, Malaysia, Qatar and UAE.
Over the course of the coming weeks, the winning team willtravel to Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Madian Saleh, Al-Ula and Abha with the aim of creating an artistic portrait of the Kingdom. Leading Saudi artists Abdulnasser Gharem, Ahmed Mater, and Ayman Yossri will also be hosting workshops in their studios for the young expedition team.
You can follow the expedition on the Offscreen ExpeditionsFacebook page or visit the Arabia: Offscreen website from 25 January to watch episodes from this exciting journey.
