A book presenting the life and art of 34 Indonesian women artists between 1940 and 2007

The book was written by Carla Bianpoen, Farah Wardani and Wulan Dirgantoro with the aim of furthering the development of the Indonesian art community and promoting understanding at an international level.

Imogiri Batik School

The 2006 earthquake that devastated parts of Java also destroyed the Batik painting and production centre at Imogiri. HSBC helped to restore this important museum and workshop and enabled 100 skilled Batik painters to return to work producing classic Imogiri Batik.

Janur Decoration School

Janur decoration is made from young coconut leaves and used for rituals in Bali and Java, in particular during weddings ceremonies and offerings. HSBC is a sponsor of the school where pupils of all ages learn to make the decorations, gaining skills that enable them to make a living.
