European Musical Academy of Aix en Provence

HSBC France supports talented young people through music and education

Project dates: ongoing since 2006

HSBC France has sponsored the European Musical Academy of Aix en Provence since 2006. The programme is aimed at helping young performers fulfil their potential and has two parts.

The Academy invites young performers to work alongside well-known musicians to prepare concert and recital programmes. This is done through a combination of private classes and public master classes. They are also given the opportunity to perform in the Aix-en-Provence Festival.

Every year, HSBC France also supports a special class of ten young performers - the HSBC Prize-Winners - by organising several concerts in France and abroad. Apart from a desire to introduce these young musicians to the general public, the aim is also to help these young performers take their first steps in their chosen career.

The Fondation HSBC pour l'Education

HSBC France supports education through cultural products

Project dates: on going since 2005

The Fondation HSBC pour l'Education was set up at the end of 2005, to coordinate educational initiatives supported by the bank. HSBC sees education as one of the main springboards to success for young people.

Every year, HSBC undertakes initiatives that give young people from disadvantaged backgrounds access to education through culturally based projects. The Foundation's Executive Committee stresses the importance of culture as a way of discovering the world, developing your own personality and developing a taste for learning.

HSBC France employees are also invited to make a personal contribution to the programme by assisting project leaders in a range of tasks, such as seeking funds, accompanying young people to cultural events or participating in competition panels themselves.
