The tour will feature 14 Chinese feature films from the 1990s until the present day including classics such as Farewell my Concubine and Raise the Red Lantern, and more recent works including Luxury Car and Isabella. Cities included are Birmingham, Bradford, Brighton, Bath, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
The UK Chinese Ensemble was established in 1996 and consists of professionally trained Chinese musicians resident in Britain. It is dedicated to the promotion and development of Chinese music, musicians and related artists in multi-cultural Britain The Quartet will tour to Nottingham, Leicester, Tunbridge Wells, Gateshead, London, Ashford, Spitalfields Festival in London, Buxton Festival, Liverpool and Cambridge.

Dialogues of Wind and Bamboo Sculptural
Installation at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
Dialogues of Wind and Bamboo is a site-specific, multi-media collaboration inviting the audience to experience traditional and contemporary Chinese culture. The symbol of living bamboo links human activity with the natural environment. Through live performances, sculptural installations and a series of workshops, the composer and artistic director Kimho Ip hopes the audience will be inspired to explore the Garden with their ears as well as with their eyes.

The tale tells of the irrepressible Monkey who is born at the dawn of time, quickly causing chaos and breaking all the rules. Locked up in a mountain for a thousand years his only chance of escape is to help a travelling monk on a sacred quest.

New Ink Paintings by Chen Shaoxiong and Qiu Anxiong at the Chinese Art Centre
Chinese Ink painting is one of the most traditional art forms still widely used in China today with a thousand year history. Chen Shaoxiong and Qiu Anxiong both use the form in an experimental way, using their daily life stories and the modern city, they create new ink paintings and animation which illustrate a sense of insecurity in China's rapid urban development.

The Far West Project - Arnolfini
Exploring the new relations between East and West through cultural exchange, The Far West Project will take over five gallery spaces at the Arnolfini, adopting the model of a trading company. There will also be a website and on-line shopping service as well as a gallery-based supermarket and mail order catalogue. As with Chinese tourist ‘museums', part of the building-based presentation will include the manufacturing process itself, with a factory section for participation in production.
