Why is HSBC involved?
HSBC has had a continuous presence in mainland China since 1865 and has more branches in China, including rural areas, than any other foreign bank. It believes that an awareness of culture is the first step to doing business and is keen to promote understanding of this fascinating country.

There is huge public and business interest in China , a fascinating society and growing economic power, particularly this year of the Beijing Olympic Games.

This exhibition puts a finger on the pulse of modern China today.

The exhibition
The China Design Now exhibition is divided into three sections. Each is linked to a city which provides a case study for the exploration of a different field of contemporary design.

Frontier City: Shenzhen shows the development of graphic design and visual culture
Dream City: Shanghai features fashion and lifestyle
Future City: Beijing explores architecture and the city
